The ISO standards are valid worldwide for protective and professional footwear

The DIN EN ISO standards

Ten years ago, a series of pan-European regulations were established for protective, professional and safety footwear. Based on the following regulations, TÜV Rheinland (German Technical Inspection Agency) tests and approves ALPRO^® models.

• DIN EN ISO 20344: Requirements and test methods
• DIN EN ISO 20345: Safety footwear specifications
• DIN EN ISO 20346: Protective footwear specifications
• DIN EN ISO 20347: Occupational footwear specifications

Professional footwear refers to all shoes that have slip-resistant, antistatic or similar qualities. Generally speaking, occupational shoes are not equipped with any special toe protection.

Models with toe protection are grouped in the categories of protective footwear (e.g. plastic caps, test energy up to 100 joules) or safety footwear (steel toe caps, test energy up to 200 joules).

Classification of standards

• SB: Standard (refers to general basic requirements; open-heel models can also be part of this classification);
• S1: Standard safety footwear = SB + antistatic + energy absorption in heel area;
• S2: Standard safety footwear for wet areas;
• S3: Standard safety footwear for wet areas with puncture-resistant, profiled sole and closed-heel area

ALPRO^® models certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO-standards

The majority of ALPRO^® models meet one of the DIN EN ISO professional footwear standards.

The ALPRO^® PU-clog without steel toecap complies with the DIN EN ISO 20347:2007, SRC, E, OB standard.

The soles of our ALPRO^® models have been tested by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13287:2007. This regulation specifies that at least one of the following three categories must be fulfilled:

• SRA – Slip resistance on ceramic tiles with cleaning agent
• SRB – Slip resistance on steel floor with glycerol
• SRC – Slip resistance on ceramic tiles with cleaning agent and on steel floors with glycerol

ALPRO^® sandals and clogs with soft footbed and super-grip sole and ALPRO^® PU-clogs have passed the SRC category. ALPRO^® models with the ALPRO^® moulded sole meet the SRA category.
